Alexander Technique Hove BN3
Transform posture, tension & pain

Hello — I’m Daniel Alan Mars, and I’ve been teaching the Alexander Technique for over 40 years. My work is about helping people feel more at ease in their bodies — moving, breathing, and living with less pain and more energy. You can read testimonials from my students here.
🌿 What Is the Alexander Technique?
The Alexander Technique is a gentle, practical method that helps you unlearn habits of tension and misuse that can cause pain, stress, and restricted movement. Through a combination of light hands-on guidance and verbal coaching, it helps you become more aware of how you sit, stand, move, and breathe — so you can do these things with less effort and more freedom.
People come to Alexander lessons for many reasons, including to help with:
- Back, neck, or shoulder pain
- Joint and muscle tension
- Breathing or Voice coaching
- Movement challenges
- Stress-related conditions
It’s not about “correcting” you, but about giving you practical tools to move with ease and support your natural coordination.

📚 Evidence-Based Benefits
The Alexander Technique isn’t just a well-kept secret — it’s supported by scientific research. A major study published in the British Medical Journal (20 August 2008) showed significant long-term benefits for people with chronic low back pain.
- 24 one-to-one lessons produced the most lasting improvements.
- Even six lessons followed by regular exercise were about 70% as effective.
- All lessons were delivered by experienced STAT-certified teachers.
- The improvements were unlikely to be due to placebo effects.
🌱 What You Can Expect
Each lesson is gentle, hands-on, and tailored to your needs. Together, we’ll explore how small changes in posture and awareness can make a big difference — not just in how you move, but in how you feel and function day to day.

“97% of people with back pain could benefit by learning the Alexander Technique – it is only a very small minority of back pain sufferers that require medical intervention such as surgery”
Jack Stern, spinal neurosurgeon
“I recommend the Alexander Technique as an extremely sophisticated form of rehabilitation… We already notice, with growing amazement, very striking improvements in such diverse things as high blood pressure, breathing, depth of sleep, overall cheerfulness and mental alertness, resilience against outside pressures, and in such a refined skill as playing a musical instrument.”
